Karen E. Vann
Karen Elaine Vann, 76, of Florence, KY went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospice facility in Edgewood, KY. She was born January 7, 1947 in Tulsa, OK to the late Arthur and Carrie Skidmore. Karen truly loved the Lord, and she lived a life that would resemble that. She was peaceful, graceful and showed mercy for everyone she encountered. She was a proud member of 7 Hills Church in Florence, KY, and she was very involved. She served on several teams at the church and she loved it there.
Karen will also be remembered for her great sense of humor and her easygoing spirit. She was a reading enthusiast and would read everyday. She especially enjoyed reading Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books to her grandchildren, which would make them all laugh hysterically. Karen was also a great cook, and she was the type of person who thought Pie was a breakfast food. She made the best homemade Popcorn, and loved staying up late playing games with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Edward Vann, and her brother, Kenneth Floyd Skidmore. Karen is survived by her loving children: David (Jennifer) Vann, Lori (John) Sloan, Mark (Kassidy) Vann and Shari (Jeffrey) Lewis, her cherished grandchildren: Matthew and Colin Vann, Monica, Jake and Vann Sloan, Avery, Jase and Declan Vann, Parker, Ella, Abe, Charlie and Kalliopi Lewis, her beloved sisters: Dubie (Oman) Guthrie and Diana (Nowlin) Keathley, her dear sister-in-law: Mary Skidmore and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held for Karen on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 4pm until 7pm at Linnemann Funeral Home, 30 Commonwealth Avenue, Erlanger, KY 41018. A service will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 10:30am at 7 Hills Church, 6800 Hazel Ct., Florence, KY 41042. She will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Christmas Child Program at 7 Hills Church at the address listed above.

I loved Karen so much. I served with her when I was part of the original church before Seven Hills. I saw her again when she was a door person for this wonderful speaker who came to town who really touched and spoke my heart that night what I needed to hear. Karen and I didn’t get to catch up that night. Even though I saw her briefly but had to enter through another entrance for the kind of ticket that I had which someone actually gave me for that conference which I just found out for that day. I couldnt find her once I entered the building to hear the speaker at Northern Ky University so we didnt get to catch up. But even our brief greeting let me know how much she loved me and was so happy to see me and made me feel so loved and welcomed. and of course I too was happy to see her as well. What a lovely loving person she was. Truly my sister. Karen was so beautiful. I loved her and everything this obituary says about her. It’s so true how she loved how she was so gracious, how she was kind oh, she always made me feel so good and always made me feel so welcomed and loved. This really hurts, I had no idea she was even sick. But I loved how this obituary said she would read this funny book to her grandchildren and they would laugh so hard. I want to look this book up. Wow, to be a follower in her steps to be so busy and serving those in my community with much love and acceptance as well as my church. That is my heart. I go to a different church now and love people and look for how God wants me to serve others. But wow, Karen was quite an example. I can’t wait to see her again, but I’ll wait until the Lord calls me home but I’m looking forward to seeing her again as I know she will make me feel so welcome.I wish we had stayed in touch more while here on this earth. I’m definitely going try to get off work to be there. I loved that woman tremendously. She meant a lot to me, so sorry to hear about her passing but it sounds like she graduated. She learned all the lessons she needed to learn while here on this earth. I write this with tears flowing and laughing while remembering her love and beauty. And I learned we’re alike in staying up late, but I don’t have children or family near by to play games with. Maybe I’ll adopt some see you in heaven Sis.
