John H. Duteil “Jack”
Burlington, KY- John “Jack” Duteil, 87, passed away with the love and support of his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Nancy ( Murrison) Duteil, and his parents, Clarence and Emily Duteil. He is survived by his four children: Lisa Gulas, Kelly Duteil, Amy Talley, John Mark Duteil, sisters Dixie and Jennifer, seven grandchildren and 3++ great-grandchildren, and many good friends. Jack had many interests that included, racing sailboats, bluegrass music, golf, fly fishing, racing cars, making scrimshaw belt buckles, carving birds from wood and even held a private pilot license in his 20’s. Jack grew up in College Hill and Groesbeck and graduated from Hughes HS. He went onto UC (on a partial band scholarship for drums) where he graduated with a BS in architecture in 1961. After graduating he practiced architecture in both Cincinnati, OH and Salem, IN before joining Federated Department Stores. He worked for Federated in Cincinnati, Miami, Chicago, and San Francisco before his retirement after 22 years. He will be remembered as a funny, kind, gentle man who loved to tell a good joke. Arrangements are still being made for a Celebration of Life and oh what a LIFE we will celebrate.
