Pat “Coach” Moyer

I was so sorry to hear about Pat. He was always so family oriented. Always contacting me. I just heard from him on Mother’s Day . I loved Pat and all of my cousins.

I was all set to make the high school baseball team as a Senior as the worst ball player on the team. Coach Moyer didn’t like that idea and he made sure that I was aware. The next thing I knew I was running track again. I didn’t like running around in circles but I loved Coach Moyer. He had a great way about him. Coach Moyer was more than just a coach; he was a mentor and a friend. I will forever be grateful for the impact he had on my life. It saddens me that I never had the opportunity to reconnect with him after all these years, to reminisce about the countless memories we shared during six seasons of track and cross country. My condolences to Bonnie and family. He will be missed. Love ya Coach.

Pat, You were the best brother, the patriarch of the Moyer family. And you did “hold us together.’ I hope we can honor you and go on with all the strength and love you gave us as well as you always did.

I carried mail with Pat for 21 of the 40 he worked for the USPS at Fountain Square and later at Mid City, he was good carrier and a great colleague of mine as were many of the people at both stations, Pat made time in the office fun with sense of humor and disposition, I feel fortunate to have been with Pat about 3 weeks before his stroke, we had a good moment and time at the luncheon, I think back at that time and think if I’d only known, but yet I don’t feel bad for not being nicer or more attentive, for that day in that moment we both were on same playing field carrier to carrier friend to friend man to man we shook hands hug and left, after what happened to Pat and to have such a wonderful moments to recall is a blessing itself !!!RIP PAT MOYER

Bonnie, So sorry about losing Pat. I will not be able to make the service as I have a best friend whose service is the same time. My prayers are with you and your family. I didn’t know Pat that well, but from everything I’ve heard, he was a great guy.

Sixteen years ago I was welcomed into the “Howdy Boys” and, of course, went on many rides thereafter. I had the honor of meeting and getting to know Pat throughout the following years. He became one of my favorites. His sense of humor helped brighten everyone, especially in the evenings when we were all tired. On my last ride with the boys I had the pleasure of rooming with Pat and I enjoyed every minute of our conversations we had over those several long days and nights. I will miss him. I’ve been residing in Florida the last year and sorry to miss his service.

I had the honor & privilege of (literally) running with Pat for decades. He was an exemplary individual who affected many – and on this day, Memorial Day, it is especially fitting to remember his deep patriotism, first reflected by his service in the U. S. Navy…and after that, every day of his life.

My prayers and sympathy go out to all of you. I knew Coach as a neighbor on Beech Drive, driving a school bus for SPX, coaching and a great guy who brought joy to life.
