Michael Joseph Kathman, 67, of Florence, KY passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY. He was born October 10, 1955 in Covington, KY to the late Donald and Lorna Kathman. He was a member of Mary Queen of Heaven Church and his faith was very important to him. Mike chose a life of serving others; he was a Registered Nurse, and he loved helping people. He started his career at St. Luke Hospital, but he eventually worked at St. Elizabeth, the Health Department, Kidz Club and Redwood. Mike loved working with children, probably because he was a kid at heart. He was a real jokester, and he enjoyed playing tricks on people. He loved puzzles and art. He was also very handy and he loved to fix things, even if you didn’t always want him to, he just wanted to help. Mike had never met a stranger, and he would give you the shirt off his back. He was a true light to the community; he was kind, loving and compassionate.
Mike is survived by his loving wife: Susie Kathman, his beloved children: Sean Kathman (Kelley), Kyle Kathman (Jillian Caldwell), Kelly Kathman (Bryan Rosenhagen), and Megan Kathman (Kristen Moushon), his dear siblings: Donald Kathman Jr., David Kathman (Kim), Michelle Lauterbach (Tom), and Kevin Kathman (Julie), his nephew: Joseph Kathman, his niece, Jennifer Lopez (Antonio), his beloved dogs: Puppy, Belle and Sadie, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and grand-pets.
A visitation will be held for Mike on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Mary Queen of Heaven Church, 1150 Donaldson Hwy, Erlanger, KY 41018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately following at 12:00 PM at the Church. Mike will be laid to rest at St. Mary Cemetery in Fort Mitchell following the Mass. Memorial contributions can be made to Easterseals Redwood at 71 Orphanage Rd, Fort Mitchell, KY 41017 or online at https://www.redwoodnky.org. Online condolences can be made at www.linnemannfuneralhomes.com.
