Judy Berg
Judith “Judy” R. Berg passed away on February 8, 2023, at her Petersburg home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous 20 month battle with pancreatic cancer. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 51 years, Bob, and her loving son, Ryan.
Born on January 3, 1953, in Boston, MA to the late Thomas Ryan and Edith Quinn, Judy was an intelligent, thoughtful, passionate woman. Rather than march and protest, Judy opted to work diligently behind the scenes empowering women to challenge the traditional gender roles prominent at the time. One of the first 100 women to graduate from Boston College with a degree in arts and sciences, Judy enjoyed working for seven years at Xerox before working for 25 years as a global account manager with Hewlett-Packard at a time when career options for women were limited. She spent nine years volunteering to teach Junior Achievement to eighth-grade students at Immaculate Heart of Mary taking particular interest in mentoring the girls who expressed interest in business and leadership roles. Following her time at HP, she spent the remainder of her working life teaching technology classes at Mary, Queen of Heaven in Erlanger, KY.
She spent her free time enjoying Reds baseball games and University of Kentucky basketball games, tending to her garden where she used her fresh herbs in her home cooking, attending Ryan’s many sporting events and music recitals, volunteering with St. Charles Adult Day Care and Mary Rose Mission, and spending time talking over the phone and visiting with her dear family.
A lover of the ocean, she and Bob enjoyed visiting New Smyrna Beach, FL where they had many friends.
Visitation services will be held at Linnemann’s Funeral Home in Burlington, KY on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 6pm to 8pm with a funeral service to follow at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Burlington on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be made to Mary Rose Mission in Florence, KY where she worked as a volunteer cook towards the end of her life, or the St. Elizabeth Foundation where she received excellent care in her battle with cancer.
