Roby received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her Master’s of Social Work through Indiana University. As a young woman, Roby was called to be a Christian missionary in East Asia where she served for 26 years. She is survived by her two sons Matthew (Hannah) Taw and Zachary Taw. She is also survived by her four siblings, Nancy, Holly, Debbie, and Rock (Chrystina) Vest, and a multitude of dear nieces and nephews. Roby also leaves a host of other beloved family and friends behind.
Roby had an undeniable warmth and charm, which endeared her to many. She loved learning, painting, reading, and sharing life with others. She ministered to people of diverse ages and cultures. Her wisdom, counsel, and deep understanding of people allowed her to touch many lives on a profound level. Walking through immense pain leading up to her death, it was always Roby’s desire to die in a way that pointed others to the surpassing worth of having a relationship with Jesus over anything this world has to offer.
