John Anthony Ornella
John Anthony Ornella, 60, of Edgewood, KY passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY. John retired from Mubea where he served as Division Controller. He was a graduate of University of Cincinnati and a proud CPA. John was selfless and always brought a laugh and smile in people’s lives. He enjoyed driving his Miata, biking with friends, cooking and grilling out, and most importantly traveling and spending time with his family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Sr. and Viola Ornella, and his brother, Barry Ornella.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Helen Ornella (nee Rolwing); his daughter, Emily (Peter Thomas) Ornella; and his siblings, Linda (Kent) Davidson, Donna (Denny) Gray, Wally (Becky) Ornella, and Ann (John) Hughes.
John also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation for John will be on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 10:00AM-12:00PM at St. Pius X Church in Edgewood, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 12:00PM at the church. A reception will follow the mass in Milligan Hall at St. Pius undercroft. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in St. Bernard, OH.

I was sorry to hear that John had fallen asleep in death.We know he will live forever in our hearts.In the future we will see him again in perfect health.That is why our Lord Jesus died so we could have everlasting life.One day deaths will be a thing of the past.Rev 21:3,4 will become a reality for all of us soon.

What a dear, devoted man God has taken to him. His constant caring and loving ways with you both, Helen and Emily, will be a real void. His sense of humor was infectious, but his love of the two of you and God permeated everything he did. John spoke often and freely of his devotion and love for you both. Thank God we will all be together again in Heaven. In the meantime, John gave you the most precious of all gifts during his life here on earth – his love. His is a big absence to acknowledge. God bless you as you wind through this and know that your cousins in Chicago are with you always.
Retirement twins
John and I retired on the same day in late Dec ’19. The next day in the locker room at 5 Seasons a friend asked how I was doing and when I told him I had just retired a voice came from the other side of the room “Me Too”. John came over and introduced himself to me. He was so excited about retirement. A few months later, Jerry Meyer invited me to ride with him and friends on what proved to be John’s favorite route from Newport to Lunken. When we met he reintroduced me to John and to Steve Klare. After the ride we stopped at Caravallo Coffee and visited. That day when I returned home I told my wife that meeting new riding buddies to hang with was exactly what I was looking forward to in retirement. John seemed to feel the same way. We rode often in ’20 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The photo includes may members of our riding group having lunch at the Monkey Bar on the Little Miami bike trail.
