David L. Hornbeck
David L. Hornbeck, 66, of Independence, KY passed away unexpectedly on May 20, 2020. David was born February 20, 1954 in Covington, KY. Following high school, David proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a proud father, and grandfather, and he will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin and Laverne Hornbeck, and his brother: Jeffrey L. Hornbeck. David is survived by his loving son: Jeff (Sarah) Hornbeck, and his beloved granddaughters: Isabella and Alison Hornbeck. Services for David will be handled in private at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial contributions be made in David’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project at P.O. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Dave. About 45 years ago he was going to join the Navy. He had a 450cc Honda that I bought from him. I asked him where are the gears were because I had never ridden one. He told me and I rode it home to Villa Hills. His parents lived in Crescent Park at the time. I have never seen him since but I knew his mother and father. His father Mel was the basketball coach at Crescent Springs where he coached me for two years. I got to know him and Laverne very well. His family was always so nice to me. Prayers to the entire family. RIP Dave

Heartfelt sympathy to his family. Went to school with David, 1st grade through High school. His Dad coached our basketball team in 4th grade. His mom tried to keep all of us in line when we were teenagers, including his younger brother Jeff when we were hanging out at the service stations in Crescent Park. We had a big party for him when he join the Navy. Loss track of each other over the years, as that happens. But we did get together after some thirty years about two years ago. Lots of laughs & memories were shared. He will be missed.
