Georgette Pomer

Georgette Pomer, 94, left this world Friday, April 3, 2020. Georgette, who went by Georgia, was born in Cincinnati, OH September 8, 1925. As a child, she played among the barges on the Ohio River and after her father passed, assisted her mother with her grocery store in Cincinnati. She moved on to become a chorus girl. Georgia played shows and rubbed elbows with a variety of entertainers. She left her dancing life when she met and married Sydney Pomer. Together they had 1 daughter. Georgia loved spending time in Haiti with her small family and visiting her dear friends in Key West.

When her husband died and at a time when others would be retiring, she took charge in raising her infant granddaughter, leading her to find a new home and community at South Side Baptist Church.  She loved spending time at the Cincinnati Zoo and the Krohn Conservatory. She loved musicals and movies with an edge. Georgia was full of stories, led a fascinating life, and will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of life is being planned for a date in September.
