Robert Lay of Florence, passed away at his home on March 10th surrounded by his loving family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Robert enjoyed the beach, fishing and camping at Perry Park. He was a spirited sports fan, whether for the Cincinnati Reds, UK or his own children’s sporting events. His favorite pastime though, was being a grandpa to his two grandsons, Theodore and Griffin. A visitation for Robert will be Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. with a service to follow at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Burlington, Kentucky. He joins his parents, Herbert and Mary; brother, Paul Lay and aunt, Mae Knecht. His memory lives on in those who survive him, beloved wife, Michele Lay; children, Ashley (Austin) McGue, Joey (Courtney) Lay and Michael Lay; brothers, Tommy, Donald, Mark, Chuck and Fred Lay and his wonderful grandsons.

To the Lay family,
I wish to apologize for not making it to Robs visitation. Due to my own health concerns, I thought it best that I didn’t. That being said, I wanted to let you know , my thoughts and prayers go out to you. I will miss Rob, but have great memories of working, and socializing with him. Robert, was always the best brother always caring and helpful and never wanted credit for doing good.Robert and I had a great time growing up together playing sports or just riding our bikes but most of all just being brothers.I will miss our phone conversations and talking about the UK Wildcats and what our children were doing with the lives they were leading and how proud we were of them.As we grew older we didn’t to spend as much time together as when we were younger but when we did it always felt the same as when we were younger we always laughed and had fun.All the fun and laughs that is what i will miss the most.God bless Michelle,Ashley,Joseph and Michael during this difficult time.

A friend of my brother
My husband Gary and I both knew Robert from our teen years but he was a friend of my brother Dan and they tried to catch up with each other when the opportunity allowed. He was a joy to be around. He will be missed. Prayers to his wife and family. Brenda
To my Friend
I was fortunate enough to know Robs Mom Mary whom I met working at Frischs as a young girl on 5th street in Covington. 1 by 1
I met all 7 of her wonderful boys.
In later years , I had the pleasure of working with Rob. He was 4 years my junior. We worked in a restaurant. Rob was my bus boy. We had many fun days together and I got to know Rob on a more personal level. He was good hearted, full of laughter and I will forever remember his contagious laughter. I will miss you Rob but knowing you are for sure in heaven. Love Janey
Remembrances
We were fortunate to know Rob as both a friend and colleague. Rob was such an artisan and craftsman and took pride in everything he did. Rob became a good friend, always inviting us into the “family”. We will miss his smile and sense of humor.
Now that we live so far away, we will not be able to be there in person, but defiantly in spirit.
