Farewell

Goodbye Dick, I always enjoyed our conversations which were too few and too short. I’ll always remember your smile, your voice, your demeanor which were all unique and true to you. You earned my respect many decades ago. I am grateful for knowing you.

A great Guy that will truly be missed.

Dick was a great co-worker and a better friend. I have so many great memories of Dick or as we all affectionately referred to him “BDL”. You need a little boost go see Dick for a candy bar…everybody knew he was the candy man, he always had a box of Hershey bars in his desk and was happy to share. In the summertime Dick, Karl and I would take turns buying Milkshakes /Malts at UDF…Dick always had the Chocolate Malt. Dick loved his cigars I remember him coming into work on Monday morning fresh off a weekend trip to Jungle Jims Cigar Room….he loved his cigars and especially the cigars from Nicaragua. Dick was always good for a joke or hillarious one liner. Before the plant moved to NKY we would walk over to the Cintas center on Fridays for lunch and share a meal and lots of laughs. Dick had lots of loves in his life, PBS, Chocolate, Cigars, Tow Motors, Stewrts Soda, Rum & Egg Nog, gardening and cats…he loved his cats. Over the weekend I scheduled some showings for a client of mine and the first home I scheduled was on Lahner Ln. down in Falmouth, of course it made me think of Dick, and how I should stop by the house and see how he was doing as I hadnt seen him in a couple of years. Unfortunately I recieved the bad news yesterday that Dick had passed away, and the realization set in that I wasnt going to be able to stop by and drink a stewarts root beer out on the patio and just talk politics, packaging, life and just share funny stories about our time together at Zumbiel. Dick “BDL” you were a great man to all that new you and you will be truly missed, I will always regret not stopping by 1 last time. Rest in peace my friend. -CW-
