Bertine Riley Bradley
Bertine Riley Bradley
September 9, 1922 – March 31, 2018
Bertine Riley Bradley was born in 1922 in Southern Georgia. She settled in Northern Kentucky and became an influential figure in many lives. Bertine trained as a registered nurse in a diploma program and began teaching LPN nursing classes. While teaching she completed her Bachelor’s degree and retired as the Coordinator of Health Programs of Northern Kentucky Technical School. She was an excellent example of knowledge, honesty and integrity who was a role model for her students, family and friends. Her passions in life included her family, being an active member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, reading, lifelong learning, and the Covington Art Club. Throughout her life she continued to seek the best in all people and displayed her memorable soft-spoken southern charm. She also had a competitive side and, given an opportunity, would “beat the daylights” out of an opponent at cards (from Rummy to Bridge) with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, George H Riley, M. D. in 1971 and William Bradley in 1999. Bertine is survived by her children Charles W. Riley III (Linda), Sharron J. Lovett (Ron), and Angela K. Riley (Nanette), grandchildren Melissa A. Sears, Charles W. Riley IV, Benjamin D. Riley, Lynnette C. Chasteen, Suzanne M. Fernbach, great-grandchildren Charlotte, Emmie, Jay, Jack, James, Addyson, Ashlyn, Annabelle, Archer, Keegan, Olivia, Liam, Caitlyn and special friends Judy Macklin, Barbara Ransler and Jane Champion.
The family wants to thank Kathleen and all of the angels who participated in Bertine’s care helping her stay at home.
