William “Bill” Childress, 88, died on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. Bill was born in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky to Robert and Margaret Childress. He moved to Northern Kentucky when he was 16, graduating from Lloyd High School. After serving his country during the Korean War, Bill decided to leave the military to pursue a career in banking and a life with his love, JoAnn. Bill was a kid from a small town, but with was determined to work his way up, eventually becoming the Vice President of a bank trust division. JoAnn and Bill got married in January of 1952 and shared a child, Mark. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed golfing and fishing, although fishing wasn’t exactly his strong suit. Bill was a joker and loved to poke fun. He is preceded in death by both parents; sister, Sylvia Joyner and brother, Jack Childress. This self-made, determined and loving man will be missed dearly by his surviving wife, JoAnn Childress; son, Mark (Sonji) Childress and granddaughter, Karen Marie (Alex) Shaw. A public visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 11AM – 12PM with a service to follow at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, Kentucky. A graveside service will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Bill’s memory to St. Elizabeth Hospice at 483 S Loop Drive, Edgewood, KY 41017 or to the National Kidney Foundation at 30 East 33rd St. New York, NY 10016.

Dear JoAnn and Mark

Lloyd and I were so sorry to hear of Bill’s death. I wish I could we could be there today, but we will be in spirit and prayers. I have many fond memories of you and time spent with Aunt Marie and Uncle Dave. May God hold you close today and in the months to come.
